ABOUT ABOUT

The team at Think Brownstone has been talking a lot about how we can get more involved and make a real, tangible impact on our awesome city — especially when taking stock of our unique talents as design, UX, and technology practitioners.

Since those discussions, we connected with innovators at local organizations — including Jessica Paschke of Broad Street Ministry and Dave Brindley of Not in Philly — to learn more about how these groups are using design and technology to solve specific challenges in our city and to show immediate results in areas of need.

Join us during Philly Tech Week for a Q&A-style discussion with Jessica and Dave to learn how they’re actively using technology and design thinking at the heart of their work, what their dreams are for using technology to advance their mission in the future, and how YOU can use your valuable tech skills to get involved.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided!

About Broad Street Ministry and Not in Philly:

Broad Street Ministry (www.broadstreetministry.org) began as a broad-minded faith community and expanded into a place to help Philadelphians living in deep poverty and experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, and hunger through a hospitality model that is both inclusive and trauma-informed.

Not In Philly (www.NotInPhilly.org) is a website that provides a simple way for Philadelphia residents to help control litter on their blocks and in their neighborhoods. Not in Philly will supply citizens the resources (bags and a trash grabber) and incentives (gift cards drawn from #notinphilly-tagged member photos of their cleaned block on Instagram) to enable a system of user-generated updates and participation.
